What is the relationship between the free app and the Premium app?

What is the relationship between the free app and the Premium app?

March 4, 2015 by Administrator

The short answer: the free app provides you with user-generated content for one train (or bus) line. Our premium service gives you more features. Premium was previously packaged for the web as Inside Track. It is now an app, called Clever Commute Premium.

So where does the free app fit in?
It gives you alerts from your fellow commuters on one train (or bus) line. The implementation is similar to a newsfeed in Twitter or Facebook: the app shows you recent alerts on a scrollable page. The app also has other great features such as push notifications (optional, of course) and the ability to change your profile (in the app) so that you can see what is happening on other lines.
You can get the app via Apple iTunes or Google Play. Info/screenshots/video is available here – https://clevercommute.com/app

What is the difference between the old e-mail-based way and the new app?

What is the difference between the old e-mail-based way and the new app?

The information you receive on both is exactly the same: crowdsourced info on one train or bus.

Your user accounts are completely different (e.g., you need to register as a new user for the app).

The app has new/other features which we can not provide via the legacy e-mail approach.

Therefore: After you install the app, please un-subscribe from the e-mail-based service.

If you want about 35 more more features (and delivery options including text messages and our mobile-enabled web portal), we have a premium service called “The Inside Track” (see clevercommute.com/features for that).

Recent Alerts – Does the app refresh?

Recent Alerts – Does the app refresh?

The notifications regarding a new alert are virtually real-time…and contain the full text of the commuter alert.

There may be a slight delay in seeing the alert show up in the Recent Alerts page. However, you can always do a pull-to-refresh on that page to see the latest messages.

Users of our premium service have the option of a faster refresh rate…and can use the Profile feature to change this value (see Refresh Interval.)

If you are a user of our premium service, The Inside Track, you can use that user ID and password.

Otherwise: You must create a new, free account which is unrelated to your existing, free membership.
