There are currently 9 ways to get one free access to the app's Premium service:
- Sharers: If you are someone who gives info, you deserve to receive it for free (more info)
- People who are in career transition (e.g. unemployed or about to be)
- Full-time students (includes high school commuters)
- People in their first year in the workforce (e.g. recent grads)
- Military - active duty as well as military people returning to the workforce
- Other people returning to the workforce (e.g. caretakers who are re-joining the commuting community)
- Senior citizens 65 years of age or older
- People who are disabled, pregnant, or have any kind of mobility or material health issue
- Essential workers (e.g. your commute is mandated by Covid-19)
If you do actually ride public transit and have these or other circumstances that you feel make you eligible, then please send us a note via the Contact link on our site to tell us.
Logistics
(1) Start by getting the Clever Commute app in your app store and creating an account there.
(2) Contact us and tell us
- The e-mail address you used at sign-up in the app (Students: Use your school e-mail address when you sign up)
- Which transit provider you ride (e.g., NJT, LIRR, MNR) We do not need to know more than that about your commute.
Note
- We treat all requests with respect and discretion.
- We will give you time-boxed access (e.g., generally one year, rounded up.)
After your free period ends, you can contact us again.
If you remain eligible per the above and you have a history of using the app throughout the year, we will endeavor to renew your free service.
We may not be able to grant all requests indefinitely. - We reserve the right to revoke this offer at any time.
- Nobody will ever unexpectedly be enrolled in a service they need to pay for (e.g. no "auto-enroll" or anything like that)
