4C – The Clever Commute Commuter Council

4C – The Clever Commute Commuter Council

December 31, 2025 by Administrator

TL;DR
I’m a commuter too. Clever Commute is my passion project.
I’m launching a small, invite-only group of fellow commuters to help improve it through honest feedback, early input, and thoughtful engagement - not cheerleading.
That group is the Clever Commute Commuter Council (4C).

If you use Clever Commute, there’s a good chance we share the same daily reality: platforms, delays, last-minute decisions, and the constant effort to make a tough commute a little easier.

I built Clever Commute out of my own commute. It’s grown because other commuters took the time to speak up: what worked, what didn’t, and what could be better.

I want to make more room for that kind of input.

That’s why I’m launching 4C.

Why a Council, not a board

4C is not a board.

There’s no governance role, no fiduciary responsibility, and no obligation to agree.

It’s a customer council (similar to those used by large tech companies) made up of real users who are willing to be candid, practical, and sometimes critical.

We’re all trying to get through the same commute. The goal is better decisions, not consensus.

What 4C does

Members of 4C:

  • Receive a monthly email with updates, questions, or early looks

  • Share honest feedback on features, data, and direction

  • Help pressure-test ideas before they’re finalized

  • Engage naturally with Clever Commute content when it’s relevant

There are no meetings, no standing calls, and no quotas.

You participate when you have something useful to add.

What this is not

4C is not:

  • A marketing program

  • An ambassador group

  • A requirement to praise Clever Commute publicly

  • A pay-to-play arrangement

I’m not looking for applause. I’m looking for signal.

Social participation (light and organic)

If you’re already active on social platforms, you’re encouraged — not required — to:

  • Like, comment on, or follow Clever Commute content

  • Participate thoughtfully on platforms you already use (TikTok, Reels, Reddit, X)

  • Post in communities like r/suburbanrail when appropriate

There’s no script. Use your judgment.

What you get

Members of 4C receive:

  • Free Clever Commute Premium

  • Early access to selected features or data

  • A direct line to me 🙂 the founder and a fellow commuter

  • The option (not obligation) to say you’re part of 4C

There’s no payment, no equity, and no expectation of public disclosure.

How confidentiality works

4C operates on Chatham House–style rules:

  • Ideas can be discussed

  • Attribution and specifics stay inside the group

  • Early features, data, or internal discussions shouldn’t be shared publicly

Trust matters here. If it breaks, membership ends.

Membership details

  • Size: up to ~30 people. Hopefully representative of the communities we currently serve (LIRR, Metro-North and NJ Transit)

  • Term: 1 year, renewable at Clever Commute's discretion

  • Participation: expected, but flexible

  • Removal: inactivity, leaks, or bad-faith behavior

Membership is by invitation.

Why I’m doing this

Clever Commute works best when it reflects how commuters actually think and behave (not how anyone assumes they do)

4C is my way of creating a simple, respectful space where that feedback flows both ways.

If you’re invited, it’s because your perspective matters, and not because I expect you to agree, but because I know you can help.
